Frustrated Tottenham midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg says he is “not satisfied” with the amount of game time he is being offered and says it is for manager Ange Postecoglou to explain why.
The Dane has started just three games across all competitions since the start of 2024 and only six throughout the whole Premier League season. He played 174 minutes in his country’s two friendlies this international break, which is more time than his last six league matches combined.
Hojbjerg, who scored in Denmark's 2-0 win over the Faroe Islands on Tuesday, says his lack of club minutes is not for a want of trying. He insists that he does not want to make a scene out of the situation but did not hide his displeasure, placing the onus of explanation onto Postecoglou.
Speaking to native outlet Tipsbladet, the 28-year-old said of his game time: “Of course, I am not satisfied with what is going on at the club. It's not a secret, but it's not something I make a fuss about either.
“I can put my head on the pillow knowing that I'm giving it my all to show the coach he has to believe in me. This is not the case at the moment, and it is the coach who must explain why.”
Hojbjerg will almost definitely be heading to Germany with Denmark for this summer’s European Championships, where they will face England, as well as Serbia and Slovakia, in their group.
